# Schedules, holds and refunds

> Set when creators are paid in Rally: the payout schedule, the hold period, the payout minimum, and what happens to commissions when a customer refunds.

Each program has payout settings in its **Payouts** section. Changing them creates a new program version.

## Payout schedule

| Schedule | How it works |
| - | - |
| **On request** | Creators request a payout from their portal when they choose. |
| **Weekly** | Rally creates payouts every week for creators with enough available. |
| **Monthly** | Rally creates payouts once a month. |

On a weekly or monthly schedule, creators don't request payouts. Their portal tells them when the next one runs.

## Hold period

Every earning starts as **pending** and becomes **available** after the hold period, measured in days. Use it to cover your refund window: a refund that arrives during the hold is handled before any money moves.

## Payout minimum

Creators with less than the payout minimum available are skipped, and their balance rolls over to the next payout. On request, a creator can't request a payout until they reach it. Set it to 0 for no minimum.

## Refunds

If a customer a creator referred gets a refund, the commission on that sale is handled by the program's refund treatment:

| Treatment | What happens |
| - | - |
| **Void pending** | If the commission hasn't been paid yet, it's cancelled. Commissions already paid are left alone. |
| **Clawback paid** | Pending commissions are cancelled, and commissions already paid are deducted from the creator's next payout. |
